I have a 2008 octavia l&k with an electric seat on the drivers side which literally has a mind of it's own all of a sudden. I can be driving along and all of a sudden the seat will start moving backwards to the most extreme position. If i hit the saved position on the memory button it will go back but for how long I don't know. This is very worrying, i took it to a normal garage for a service and asked them to look at it but they had no answer even after plugging in the computer. Any clues or am I the only one ever experiencing this??

 

A "normal garage" probably can't read the convenience and comfort ECU functions. You need either VCDS or a VAG specialist to do this.

It could be the seat microswitch playing up, it's a fault I have read about before. As above a vcds scan of the electric seat module should give you a decent steer.

Try disconnecting the memory seat switch to see if that helps. You can push the switch out from underneath the plastic trim to disconnect it.
