Unless you are planning big bhp then I would stay std with the paper filter and get a remap.

These just end up sucking in hot air from the engine bay and have a negative effect on performance. Best stick with standard airbox and fire in a performance foam filter.

If it is Oil based filter then it will end messing up your MAF sensor sooner or later. Also some of the cone filters specially on a Diesel engine don't end up making the desired NOISE (woooooosh / flutter) you are aiming for. Performance wise no difference whatsoever. Infact standard box with paper filter have been tested to make better power than some of the cheap nasty after market filters although obviously not tuned. Since you are not going the mapping direction I will reluctantly advice against a cone filter.

Same as above mate. Not sure if your car is a facelift but mines a 2011 TDI for sure.

I did contemplate the same and a bit of research pointed me to possible MAF failure and the car basically sounding like for a better term 'wasps nest' residing under your bonnet.

Is it a CR or PD? Nothing beats the buttery smooth sound of a common rail. Why spoil it with a stupid bit of plastic plumbing?

Not for me nah.
