Bolero not seeing new folders on San disk SDHC

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have read quite a few threads on here but I'm unable to find one that exactly matches my issue.

I have a 16gb San disk SDHC in my bolero that has around 5gb of music saved on it.

The card is correctly formatted to fat32 and the music is saved in folders, the folders are named as per the album title and the music is within the folder in MP3 format.

All of the music plays perfectly however I have tried adding 3 new albums to the card today and the bolero does not see them ( albums saved in exactly the same format as all prev music) until I delete a couple of the prev saved albums.

If I re-add the prev albums I deleted the bolero no longer shows them but now shows the new albums

Its as though the bolero has reached the limit of what it can read from the card but also seems to discard the newest saved data.

Now I have read that older boleros struggle to read cards over 2gb, mine is in a 2010 car so not sure if that falls into the old enough category but the but it is reading a 16gb card but only up to 5gb of data.

I have also read somewhere that it might not be down to the size of the card but number of tracks, although I can no longer find where i have read this, and that the bolero tops out at a certain number ( lets say 3000 tracks as I cant remember what the thread advised) could this be the issue and I have reached track limit so need to remove prev track to see newly added?

Any Ideas.

Cheers Dave

Sounds like a problem with the earlier units, in my 2015 Octavia 3 with a MIB1 I'm using a 128GB SDXC card with over 85GB of music (over 10,000 tracks) and it reads & plays all the folders.

There is something with the Bolero (as you say) which limits the number of files or folders it's able to see (and as a result the number of tracks it can see). I can't recall what it is, but it sounds like you're on the right lines with your deductions. It might be that saving the tracks and folders into a master folder will help, as then it might just see one folder and everything else will be inside that folder, but I don't know.

Time for a Columbus I think... :p

Thanks PetrolDave,Rustynuts,

I have been playing around with file formats but have not tried all tracks into one master folder, you might be right Rustynuts as I removed 3 folders each with 12 tracks and replaced with 1 folder with 12 tracks and 2 with 24 tracks so I have more tracks for the same amount of folders , I'll give it a go over the weekend.

I'm going to ignore the blatant Columbus pitch  ;)

You know you want to mate. I have a couple of bargains in at the moment too... :p
