Washer bottle leak?

Featured Replies

Topped up the washer fluid bottle on the Scout last night and when putting in the third litre of water heard a running water sound and discovered it was running out from the near side under the corner of the front bumper. There's still some in the bottle as the low level warning hasn't come on and I've been able to use it but I wonder what could cause it to flood out presumably part way up the bottle. Don't know if it's related but also noticed that over the past few days the headlamp wash hadn't been washing. Of course there's no way to see the washer bottle or pipe work without removing bumper! Anyone experienced anything similar and have an idea as to possible solution?

So was it water (H20) and not Winter Wash or Water & Winter wash with enough strength so as not to freeze at the temps you have had?

I hope your coolant / antifreeze is strong enough for the temps you may get tonight.

Yes, it's water and screen wash solution. It should be strong enough mix not to have frozen. We've not had it too cold - just lots of snow!

Remove the offside fog light and you can access the pump and pipe work quite easily. I remove the pump twice a year to flush any dirt or bacteria from the bottle.

Thanks. I'll give that a try.

Mine does this, the headlight washer feed pipe has split away from the washer unit. Need to get round to getting another one.

Thanks surfingobo. I'll investigate this.
