I want to lower my Mk2 Octavia vrs estate

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

1st time skoda owner and i'm very impressed with the Octavia VRS estate.

Just think it sits a little high and want to lower it 50mm.

Has anyone on here got any advice on costs and possible drawbacks.

Also want to fit 19" alloy wheels but it all looks very tight under the arches.

What is the widest wheel that will fit on a lowered Octavia vrs.

Offset would be good too.

Many thanks

Oh and its a 56 plate mk2

Many posts on this subject that a search should find.

50mm to much. Will feel a dust under your bum. Not suit for original shocks as well.

Put 35mm, it would be good as VRS lowered from the factory for about 20mm.

Google it and learn about the springs suit to your max.axle weight etc

Eibach springs are a good option. If you want ultra low then coilovers are your only real option but massively limit being able to drive over speed humps and up ramps etc. The Eibachs will lower the car about 20mm. They say 35mm but as the VRS is lower by 15mm than the standard models it only does 20mm, which is plenty enough. I would also look at fitting new dampers at the same time, either std ones or uprated dampers.

+1 for the Eibach springs, I have a set sat in my garage awaiting fitting that as Ecomatt says will drop my VRS a further 20mm.

I am matching them with a set of bilstein B4 sport dampers which have OEM+ ride quality but are shortened to match the springs.

I have Eibach Pro Kit springs fitted.

It drops about 20mm for the vrs, more will give you problems.

The ride is much better not so harsh as standard.

Hope this helps.

I forgot the pictures show it on it's winter wheels and tyre 225-45-17 Rimstock Monza R wheels.

Loving the sound of this!

B4 shocks are the same length as stock vrs shocks but are compatable with the eibach pro springs, the black pro springs will only lower the vrs about 10mm its the red sportline eibachs that lower the vrs 20mm .

The lowest you can go with lowering springs is 35mm on the vrs and these are listed as either the H&R 50MM springs or Vogtland 50mm springs,

if you buy the black Eibach springs you will be very disapointed the black Eibach pro kit springs only lower the VRS around 10mm ive seen so many people buy these then when fitted dont notice hardly any difference as the old springs were sagging,

lots of companies on ebay clame these are 35mm lowering springs they are not for the vrs, The red Eibach spoortline lowering springs lower the vrs 20-25mm but these are very rare now,

i hope this helps a bit as there is lots of misinformation out there personaly if you want a very low car coilovers are what you need so when you fit 19s you can raise or lower the car as you want AP coilovers are very good for the price and qaulity and are made by KW brand.

I have bought the B4 Sport shocks from DPM performance on here who has advised that the the B4 Sport has a shorter piston than standard B4 see this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/420541-mk2-fl-vrs-springs-and-dampers/

The springs I have bought are Eibach Pro springs that while not bought from DPM I have ordered the springs with the same part number supplied on the DPM website, that again DPM have advised will lower the VRS 20mm http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/420541-mk2-fl-vrs-springs-and-dampers/

Thank you for all your input and replies.

Will take it on board and try and find a decent set up.

already have -50mm H & R lowering springs so maybe shocks are the next move unless someone would like to buy a brand new set

of H & R -50MM springs and I can reinvest in coil overs.

Again thank you all

It all depends on the look you want for your car. I myself like things low, very low, so I went for some BC Racing coilovers and have dropped my car a good 60-70mm.

If you don't want your car super low and enjoy having soft suspension and just want to subtly lower the car I'd take the advise of every one above and go for a good set of springs just.

As for wheels the widest wheel you can fit reasonably without arch mods would be 9j wide with an offset of around ET41 but you would need a slight stretch on the tyre to ensure there are no rubbing issues. Something like a 225/35/19 tyre.

I will be going with eibach springs and bilstein B6 monotubes. Purely because I want better handling and not really bothered about going low. I still want the damper to be able to damp and have full range of piston movement and not just about 1cm with going ultra low and feel like every pebble is a rock on the road.
