Fabia VRS MK2 loss of power under acceleration

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Help needed, I was pulling out of a junction earlier today and the car lost power under acceleration twice with no engine fault lights displayed, after this the car was going a little slow e.g not changing down in gears but after awhile the car went back to normal. After letting the car cool down I then did a second journey to see if it would happen again and it had a little hiccup when asking more power. Any ideas what this could be?.

Thanks

Dan

They're only golden, not crystal.

Welcome to the forum.

Best look at the Spark Plug warning thread pinned at the top of the page.

So what vRS, age, miles, Servicing done, plugs changed or anything,

has the DSG had the Service Campaign work done & anything else done to the DSG?

EDIT.

I see from your other post today that you think you have an oil user, or know you have due to the oil the car is consuming.

The Oil Spray Jet replacement is not a Recall or Service Campaign.

The soot out the exhaust is not an issue, CAVE engines can run rich and even use oil on short trips.

*Oil out the exhaust is an issue.*

If the car is showing oil use you need to check how much.

New spark plugs and a Software Update and 5w 40 Oil can help cars that have no Warranty and Skoda will not

even consider doing Warranty Work on or Goodwill Gestures or Admit that the Fundamental Design & Manufacturing, component choice

and software failures are the problem that VW knew in 2010,2011 & 2012 and the reason they changed from the CAVE to the CTHE which still had issues early on.

Good luck.

Hi offski,

Many thanks for your reply,

The vehicle is 2010 Fabia 1.4 vrs, she as roughly 53000 on her now. I've had full services carried out every year, last one only 400 miles ago, but reading the spark plug thread I'm thinking the chances haven't changed the plugs so I'll check this first thing in the morning.

Regards to the DSG I remember Skoda recalling it some 2 years back to replace the oil. I'll dig more information out tomorrow to see what actual work was carried out.

I thought the soot could have been an issue but thanks for the reassurance, just pees me off seeing it on the rear not long after washing and waxing her.

Should I keep the car much longer I may get the jets replaced.

Thanks

Dan

The service campaign on the DSG started in May 2014 & there will be a sticker in the boot showing that the Synthetic Oil was changed to mineral & a software update.

As to the spark plugs that is quite possibly the issue.

Or whoever did the service not securing a breather pipe 400 miles ago if they changed the spark plugs but the price you paid and the invoice should show if the plugs were replaced.

As to the Oil Spray Jets there are people that have had them done on early cars with the sort of mileage yours has and reckon that it solved the excessive oil use.

Who serviced the car for you?

I've had the odd strange reaction when I have been just pottering around (short journeys, no hard acceleration etc) for a while. If I then go for it, there's a slight delay, and then a big cloud of soot puffs out before the car flies as it should. It's as if the exhaust system is so full of soot, it's a bit choked until cleared in a hurry.

Lesson for this: regular use of the car's potential is a must.

Hi,

Just checked the boot for the sticker and can't find anything regards to it, if I can upload I'll attached a photo of the only sticker. I can recall skoda carrying out the DSG oil replacement under the recall. Tell ya what I wish I never went in the boot I found a pool of water in the well ????.

Regards to the service I asked for the plugs be changed this was in the price anyway, but taking the cover off this morning I found no evidence of them replaced, to much unmarked dust on all the components that require removing and the screws look untouched. I haven't a tool at the minute to get the sparks out but will do this next weekend. The works unfortunately was carried out by top thread tyres as I needed an alloy repaired. This is the first service I've had carried out by others than of Skoda.

Another fault this morning, driver and passenger windows are playing up, went I press to go down there going up on there own.

Think I'm having one of them weeks.

The DSG Service campaign sticker would be next to the VIN sticker/  34F7  /   Who should have done that work?  Check with Skoda UK Customer Services

if on the system for Service Schedule, Warranty & Recall Actions as done and paid for by Skoda UK.

http://master.skoda-auto.com/mini-apps/recall-actions

Water in Spare Tyre well is common, it comes in the rear flaps Ooo err missus.

So spark plugs change needs Ignition Coil Remover or careful DIY one.  Likely not done.

The Tyre Place was unlikely to be going to fit the correct spark plugs @ the £40-60 cost of them unless charging the price of supply or you supplying.

re Windows.

Open the with the switches inside and get to go up and down a few times if they will,

then leave down and use the Key fob lock button hold to try and close windows.
