Skoda Fabia MK I Engine Swap from 1.4 8v to 1.4 16v

Featured Replies

Hello,

First of all, my family have a Skoda Fabia MK1 1.4 8v with AQW engine 68hp and 145.000 km till now from 2003. Few days ago the engine decided that he can't support me anymore and now he's kinda dead. I learned in this car how to drive in these 5 years of my license. In my opinion i'm not satisfied with this engine from all points. We had a lot of problems with this car, in special with this engine, and we are thinking seriously to change the engine. We are kinda attached of this car and our family don't want to lose her. It's a part from us.

What i want to ask is if it possible to do a swap for this car. After some researches i decided to join here and look for some advices from you.

I think about to do a swap and put in our Fabia the 1.4 16v 101hp engine with AUB/BBZ code . I want to know if someone can explain me if this is possible or if someone did this and could help me with what I need to change together with the engine. I know that i have to change the ECU too, the exhaust Manifold, exhaust inlet and throttle flap. Now what i don't know if the gearbox is compatible and the rest of devices.

I have an open mind to all advices.I want to know what you think is the best to do with my car. Change the engine with one of the same type/code or if is worth to do a swap.

Thank you,

Have a nice day!

Gearbox is not compatible, there are too many differences between the cars to make this viable or even sensible, even the brakes are different. Simply replace the engine with another one with the same code, simples. :p
