Been looking at new cars again......

Featured Replies

After my Golf test drive I thought it would only be fair to access the competition so I went to the local Vauxhall and Ford dealers to sow the seeds for a test drive ;)

One thing I have to say is, how do Vauxhall expect to sell many VXR's when they're priced £2k+ over the Focus?

However the Astra really does look the business.

I'll let the salesmen stew for a week before calling again to arrange a test drive, one thing that does make me feel old is when they're younger than me

Another thing I found was that now I work for a Land Rover (Ford owned) factory supplier (robots etc.) I am entitled to "Ford Privilidge" that gets me a massive 20% off any new Ford/Land Rover/Jag/Aston ;)

Focus ST from £14k

I like the look of the astra, but after driving one the centre console got on my nerves. It's too close to my leg. Also some of the dials etc are obscured from view, for me anyway.

The Astra is the best looking out of the three imo, looks the biz.

Not driven the ST but I liked both the VXR and vRS more than the Golf.

Everyone is entitled to the Ford discount of between 50% and 75% if they buy a low mileage one:thumbup:

Imagine saving your entire salary when you buy a new Aston!

Put it like that and it's a very impressive saving ;)

Does the 20% off also apply to the price of the car you're px'ing?

The 20% is taken off the final change over cost BEFORE the VAT is added, so given the ST starts at £14437.50 + VAT.......

£14437.50 - 20% = £11550 + VAT

Ammount to pay = £13571.25

Now, assuming a p/x valued at £2750 is taken off the cost before VAT and discounts, it works out as a cost to change of £9063.43

A rough HP calc. makes that £160 per month over 5 yrs.

3yrs works out about £250 p/m

I know a lot of people that work for Ford and quite a few buy new cars as often as possible under the scheme as it can almost give nil depreciation ... although its best to sell the car outside Essex as there tends to be a glut of secondhand Fords available around Dunton & Dagenham :D

Goochie any chance of some discount on my ford purchase :D
