Amundsen issue and bluetooth module

Featured Replies

Hi, I have just fitted a Amundsen into a fabia pre facelift with maxi dot. After installing I've noticed that the unit won't automatically turn off when the key is taken out and requires a manual turn off. is this something I've don1e wrong? Also I have been trying to find the correct bluetooth module for phonebook, hands free calling and music streaming but have no idea what I'm looking for. any help would be fantastic!

Any fault codes present when scanned with vcds? And does the unit turn on with the ignition or does it require a manual turn on?

I'm not sure about the vcds, I'm assuming that's a trip to skoda? Manual turn on I'm afraid!ย

I'm not too sure, but I'll throw some ideas about.

Was it an Amundsen or an Amundsen + unit you fitted? It's possible that your car isn't suitable for the unit you've fitted an the canbus systems are different for various year models. What age / year is your Fabia? If the unit and the car are different canbus systems then it's just not going to happen I'm afraid, and it'll never work. This problem has been discussed before.

Agh that's a pain! Everything else was working spot on! It's an Amundsen, not the +. The fabia is a 2009? Thank you for your help! If I was to go towards a Columbus it even the kenwood that seems popular, would that fix the issue?ย

Thank you again!

I'm not sure a Columbus would surmount the issue. It's more to do with the cars canbus system than the head unit really. All the newer head units run on canbus 2.0 whereas the Fabia in early guise runs canbus 1.6. If yours is 1.6 then your options are very limited I'm afraid, as the data required from speed sensors and suchlike to make the sat nav function correctly aren't gong to be delivered.

I took to car for a drive yesterday and apart from the manual power issue everything worked spot on. Is there anyway for me to find out which can us system I have?ย

Have you scanned it with VCDS? That would tell you what you have perhaps, but I don't know personally what part numbers or data would need to be looked at to find out. If you search the forums the issue has been discussed at length by someone else who was trying to make it work.

Agh thank you for your help! Much appreciated!

I see you are in Cardiff. If you want a vcds scan let me know (am in Newport but work in Cardiff). I'm not too familiar with the Fabia or the Amundsen but we could get fault codes and eliminate whether the issueย is a coding issue related to the previous car it was installed in.
