Anyone use a Petrol car as a Taxi...........

Featured Replies

Are all taxi's diesel's nowadays or do some Taxi Drivers use a petrol car.  I was just thinking that diesels are becoming a thing of the passed.

Some councils in London ( was on the news the other day ) are thinking of charging 50% more to park a diesel car, Car tax going up, higher Conjestion charge etc etc, so which would be an Ideal Petrol Engine, size/bhp for a taxi.

Your thoughts please

Thanks

The generic variety?. )))

Good choice for a transition to BEV for the big cities, so long as they take infrastructure seriously.

I work for a accident management company that supply replacement taxis to clients while there's are being repaired.

On our fleet we have quite a few Prius's which are always in high demand. The only other petrol cars are a few sports/super cars for SD&P work,  Other than that the rest are diesels.

I've used a petrol car as a taxi for the last 3 years and just replaced that with a petrol superb 1.8 TSI SE DSG.

previously I had a diesel which caused nothing but stress with horrific DPF problems. Constantly going into limp mode. A few taxi mates have had the same and have also abandoned diesel.

also now treated myself to an automatic as the constant clutch use had started to take its toll on my knee.

The only petrol taxis we have at work are the Prius's. Horrible cheap inside. But to my knowledge we've never had one go wrong. Apart from the tyre pressure sensors.

Unlike the new diesel Engine classes. They really do hate constant town driving plus are generally throwing up random fault Codes every 5 minutes.
