File Replication options..

Featured Replies

Ok.. so the my company's upgrade programme rolls on... todays question is this:

does anyone have anything implimented for replication of files?

problem we have is weve decided to put in a fileserver(and prob a exchange box too) on a remote site.. problem is, we could ideally do with the machines replicating/copying data with a machine/nas at HQ. the site is connected here via a 2mb link.. which is shared between around 100 users and warehousing software.

so im after a "lightweight" way to keep a up todate copy at HQ

we have recently used a product called "doubletake" on another project, which is mainly a failover product.. but it replicates disc data on a byte level so is pretty bandwidth efficient.. it also means its quite expensive!!

is there any other similar software that just updates data??

How about robocopy(.exe IIRC) - it should be on one of those server resource kits.

Price wise it's free so that shouldnt be too bad. It can be run with several options etc. This is on a Windows box, which from the sound of things you're on, so it may just be good enough :)

This is worth a look - not played with it much yet but seems good
