Exhaust Emission Warning Light

Featured Replies

Having sortied out a number of niggles on my recently purchased Skoday CitiGo Sport the Exhaust Emission Warning Light has come on, It's been on for days now so there's definatelty something wrong. Anybody else expereinced this before. The car is a 63' plate with 62K miles. Any advice would be appreciated before I reluctantly take it to the stealers.

Where did you buy it from?

If it was a garage etc then they should be able to help you.

It could be fuel related ( unlikely ), or something as daft as a battery change.

If it wasn't purchased from a garage; private purchase, then I'm sure wiser people will reply, but you could find a local independent specialist. It will be considerably lower cost to diagnose.

The car is out of warranty but the battery did go flat a couple of days before the warning light came on. It could be concidence. Is it worth disconnecting the battery again? If so how long is best to leave it before re-connecting as I have heard this can perform a kind of reset.

Have a look at the wiring that goes around the back upper edge of the battery. The oxygen sensor wiring goes past there and my old Citigo suffered some chafed wiring there that caused a fault at just over 100,000 miles.

The 16 plate one I have now has different wiring routing.
