New October Owner

Featured Replies

Evening peeps, traded in my trusty mk1 fabia vrs SE today against a 59 plate October vrs tsi. Loved the fabia but was too good of a deal. I'm well aware of the timing chain tensioner issue, once warranty is up I'll book it in to get uprated chain and tensioner fitted if it starts getting rattly.

Hi and welcome to the Octavia club. Yes they are great cars, but now you own it, you have got to spell it right!!

BALLS.....totally missed that one. Cheers bud

Nice looking car mate. Your mind must have been elsewhere when you wrote the post eh. You are right about the chain and tensioner. Had mine changed last year with the latest chain kit just in case it all went bang.

The thing is you don't always get the benefit of noises and rattles before a failure.

I think that for the case of the chain/tensioner you have to have dolphin's ears to hear that when starting your engine something's wrong is sounding for very few secs (2-3)...This is the strange ratling...

Then it has come surely the time for the big surgery before the chain jumps over one tooth (or 2) from the shaft and ends up with tears..
