A bit of feedback please

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am looking to order some caliper overhaul kits, and was after any feedback from anyone who has used Brakes International on Ebay.

Not really looking for details, just good or bad really.

Many thanks

Phil.

I would use Biggred I ordered 2 pistons, seal kit, 2 bleed nipples & 4 slider pins on Thursday afternoon, Friday they arrived £44.30

Dont know Brakes International. Big Red are however very professional and they do a swap service too. You can send in your old calipers and get overhauled ones in a powder coat finish of your choice. Not expensive for what they do and good workmanship. They are quick, but the question is can you do without your car for a bit whilst the post is finding you? My advice, dont buy cheap rubber seals! Get a branded seal kit from wherever, they are not expensive and its your saftey at stake if they fail. If your piston surfaces are just slightly patchy, using 1000er and then 2000er grey polishing paper brings them up like new. I would only replace if they are pitted and badly scored. Use compressed air (a foot pump with an adapter to the brake hose inlet will do the trick too) to blow the pistons out, saves a lot of faffing as they are hard to remove if gunged up. If you have time and decide to paint your own calipers use brake cleaner to get the metal totally oil free and then paint with Hamerite Smooth finish. It lasts well and handles the temperatures that your calipers will get to. Goes soft at first use, then sets like glass. Did mine in Gold. Very satisfied. Two coats needed.

I've used Brakes International a few times over the years - no problems at all.
