Retrofitting flappy paddles

Featured Replies

Hi,

I know that a couple of members here have retrofitted a flappy paddle steering wheel to their car but I think that they bought the wheels privately and they don't come up for sale very often....

Does anyone know of a source for a flappy paddle steering wheel, preferably flat bottomed?  Superskoda seem to do them for the Octavia but not Superb III. Are any other parts needed (loom etc)?

Thanks in advance.

Just buy an Octavia wheel and transfer your current MFSW buttons into the Octavia wheel.

Obviously the car will need coding to accept the flappy paddles.

Great - thanks.  I'll see if I can track one down

I think they´re hard to find. I would like a MFSW with paddles, that looks like my current wheel. That means no flat bottom, no RS marks, no red stitching, no perforated leather etc. Where do I find one of these?

usual places .... Superskoda etc, they do a full range, or find someone upgrading to a FBSW.

Can´t find any on Superskoda - so where exactly is "etc"? :)

Another question :-)

If I buy one of those steering wheels, do I need any other parts (e.g. a loom or controller?) or is it just a matter of swapping the buttons and coding the car?

@Devonshiredave bought my std (flappy paddle) L&K wheel off me to go in his L&K, he will be the best one to ask as although I fitted the wheel and coded it to the car he had to buy new multi function buttons (IIRC the non flappy paddle multi function buttons do not have anywhere for the paddles to plug into and although the Octavia buttons will work, they will not work the paddles.

What trim spec is your car?

Its Ambition spec - one step up from the basic model here in Ireland

Hi Legacy,

The Octavia MFSW with paddles will require Superb S3 button modules (part no. 3V0 919 719B) to work. The standard, non paddle shift Superb MFSW button modules don't have the port for the paddle ribbon cables and the Octavia button modules aren't compatible. Hope that helps.

That's brilliant - thanks very much.
