This thread has people posting with the same story that I relayed above, so it looks a change to excess mileage charges are in place at VWFS

No, I already had a Focus ST lined up and whilst the girl on the other end of the phone sounded disappointed when I told her I wasn't buying a new Skoda, it didn't make a difference.

 

The TCF legislation (Treating Customers Fairly) which is robustly enforced by the FSA should have eliminated all of this business where agreements can be interpreted various ways.
