Golf mk5 seats in an Octavia vrs mk2

Featured Replies

Hi

Having completed this interior swap this afternoon, i just thought i'd share this topic, having searched it myself many times and not finding a definative answer if the mk5 Golf interior actually fits. These seats were taken from a mk5 Golf GT TDI.

The front seats do fit straight in without any need to modify in any way, as i found on searching this. Ensure you remove the negative on the battery however before removing them to save the airbags from potentially popping. The plugs are different on the front seats, but its just a case of having them spliced, i have booked it into my garage for this, my airbag light is on at the moment till saturday.

The rears on the mk5 are almost identical to the Octavias, the upper side bolsters from the octavia are kept. The upper seat backs are identical, just remove the clamp between the 60/40 upper and slide the seat off the pin on the outer side. Fit the mk5 ones  job done.

The lower seat bench is a bit different, in that its one piece, where the Octavia has 2 pieces (60/40). I had to modify it slightly by removing the clips off the front of the mk5 bench and bending the rear of the base to clip over the back fitting plate on the Oct floor. Just a little trial and error needed to get the lower bench to clip down securely and its there. The isofix brackets are accessed thru the back of the seat as normal for babyseats etc...

This is a job i have wanted to do since i bought the car a month or so ago, the half leather seats don't do this car any justice, and i'm surprised there arn't any options for full leather other than the limited edition l+m models.

I have attached pictures of the seats fitted, unfortunately i forgot to take pics of the project but hopefully my instructions are easy to follow.

The difference in comfort from the original seats is night and day, no more having to lift up and get comfortable before driving off! lovely!

Hope this helps anyone who is thinking of replacing their Vrs seats like i was!

  • 2 years later...

I know this is an old thread, but I'm looking to do something similar. I've often wondered what the round button on the side of the front seat base does. It appears on a lot of otherwise manual VAG seats I've looked at, but I'm hoping it won't stop me swapping some more comfortable seats in, as my seats are fully manual...

It's electric lumbar support
