Tdi vrs fuel tank removal

Featured Replies

Filled my car up and the fuel is leaking out from the top of the tank. It's not the seal round the lift pump. Seems to be in the direction of the two pipes that are on top of the tank. Breather pipes I believe. Is it a big job dropping the tank down to see what's going on.

not sure without looking but is there not an access panel underneath the rear seats?

if so should be possible to have a look at the top of the lift pump where the breather pipes/fuel pipes meet the lift pump. failing that it shouldn't be a huge job to lift down the tank itself, bit of a pain if you dont have access to a ramp though!

Turns out mice has ate through the 2 breather pipes. Car was parked up for a couple of months so I hope that's all they ate. Had to drop the axle down to get enough room to see the pipes on the tank. Found a new tank in the breakers yard so that's next weekends job.
