Intake hose - vrs vs tsi

Featured Replies

Hi,

Back in the day it was found that the vrs tdi intake hose from the top of the grill would fit other 1.9 tdi engines such as the atd/ pd100.

I wondered if the mk2 1.4 vrs intake was a better shape/ larger bore when compared with the 1.2 tsi and if it would fit.

Any thoughts would be appreciated?

Best wishes,

John

It does fit I'm after one for my 1.6tdi

Perhaps when Stanford Hall come around I will take a look at a vrs intake trumpet - I am fairly sure the air boxes are the same

I wouldn't bother I had one before it touches the coolant pipe, starts rubbing. Took mine off after a week.

Thx Richard but do you think it would be different on tsi engine?

Yes sorry wasn't on about the tsi just AMD's comment the 1.6tdi it rubs the tsi is fine.

Hi, I am not sure if there any difference in the size of the air intake hose from the front grill - I am fairly sure the 1.2 tsi and 1.4 tsi vrs have a common airbox - part no. 6R0129607D.

Any thoughts?

Is this what you have on a 1.2TSI ?

People want to to better intakes on a Twincharger so they change them.

Hi,

Yes it looks like that picture but I am not sure if the bore of the trumpet going into the airbox is larger diameter.

An Audi A1 owner showed me pictures of the uprated K&N 9505 airbox and it looks almost identical to standard but without the plastic 'deflector' plastic sheet between the intake pipe and the main section of the airbox.

You can see the post and photos if you click on the link below:

Just a quick question does the twin charger have two inlet pipes into the airbox to feed the supercharger and turbocharger?

No one big pipe going out the air box as in the picture.

Interesting photos thx are they your car- if so, I wondered what you did with the original airbox and intake pipe/ trumpet ?

No not mine, just on Google Images but from Briskoda threads.

Just put a wanted ad on Briskoda, plenty remove the air box, but some do keep them to replace when the car is being sold.

?

Or just fit a suitable Induction Kit that fits, they get advertised occasionally in Briskoda 'For Sales'.

Do you think it's compatible with 1.2 tsi hardware

Personally for a 1.2 TSI i think it is a total waste of time.

Best get a remap or fit a tuning box, get around 130 bhp and fit fresh filters as required, then you will have more pace, and no more noise that

gives anyone the impression the car shifts when really it does not.  JMHO..

Iam not interested in the noise - just if the vrs set-up would provide more air with less restrictions.

More Air and then more fuel because that will be needed might well give you a bit more performance right enough.

Have fun experimenting.

Back in 2004/5 I had a fabia 1.9 tdi pd100 and I started with a pd160 intake, various maps, gt1749v turbo, pd150 injectors and got to 180 bhp and 300 lb ft - lets just say I understand tuning a little bit.

Now I am a little older I appreciate that cars are tuned for various emissions regulations and have electronic and hardware limitations forced upon them. This restricts the way that power is delivered - You know the on/ off power which normally stems from an emissions based map - polo 1.4 tdi was a very good example.

I jam just trying to find out if a vrs tsi airbox and intake trumpet has less restrictions and will fit the 1.2 tsi?

Sure the actual air box is the same but yes the trumpet and feed pipe are bigger. It may be worth cutting out the plastic fin inside the air box that seems to free up the air a lot more.

Thx Richard, I guess the 1.6 tdi and 1.2 tsi share the same components.

Someone on the audi a1 has a comparison on the K&N air box vs standard where they remove the fin.

Does the trumpet and feed pipe snap onto the grill fitting the same as original?
