Considering buying a Fabia from 2001, with 210000km. Is this a good idea?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

First of all, thank you for the opportunity to share my doubts with you here at briskoda.

As the titles says, I am considering buying the sedan Skoda Fabia 1.4 comfort (68bhp,petrol) from 2001, already with 210000km.

The car looks very well conserved, the interiors are pristine.

The timing chain was changed recently. I will test drive the car this week.

I am looking for a reliable car to use for maybe 3 years, for 40000km.

Would you be kind enough to address my following concerns?:

  • With a relaxed driving in mind, is it easy/probable for this car to achieve the goals above?
  • From what i have been reading here at briskoda, this engine appears to be reliable. Can i expect significant trouble from it in the future?
  • What consumptions are expected from this car in a scenario of 50% city/ 50%highway?
  • What other common troubles are expected from such a car with so many km?
  • Do you think this purchase is a good idea or should i be looking for something else?

Sorry for my english, it is not my native language.

Thank you so much for your time,

Best regards,

pirisca

If the car has been well looked after then it will be fine, look at the history, I guess the head gasket will also have been done by now but you should check.
