Adding DAB and BT to Columbus

Featured Replies

I have a Columbus Head Unit in my MK2 Fabia and need to add Bluetooth and thought I would be as well adding DAB+ if possible at the same time.

First off, is it possible to add both or can only one be added?

I understand the BT needs the module and stuff as I have had a search about before posting, and believe that 3C8035730 is the BT/WIFI module I need.  I can then install that under the seat or behind the dash and sort it through vcds, all pretty straight forward stuff.

The bit that confuses me is the addition of DAB/DAB+.  a. I am unsure if it is possible, and b. I don't know if you can connect both BT and DAB.

If so I am assuming I need an MDI kit if not already installed and then a dab unit attached to that maybe, then a new aerial.  Or maybe I just need a DAB+ unit or maybe I need to change the whole head unit.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Lennie

add picture of current head unit.

Bt you can add as it's a separate box.

Dab you cannot add

You could use something like the Autodab unit, but at neck end of £150 they're not cheap. And the stick on aerial is only adequate really, and not very effective.

Best option is to replace with a DAB Columbus really, replace the roof antenna for a DAB compatible one, and add Bluetooth as a seperate module.

I'd go for the Columbus option too ;)

(The point was you *can* add DAB as an add-on module........whether you *should* or not is a different matter ;);) )

The swapping out and putting another in would definitely seem to be the tidiest option, however I don't have £500 to throw about at the moment.  Think I will fit the Bluetooth first, then possibly a Bluetooth connected dab radio until I can gather some readies.  The main problem is I want two of the buggers hehe, one for the car and one for the caddy. ;)

If you take one Columbus out and sell it, then that makes the one you put in that much cheaper...

I know but if I get the timing wrong she will kill me if she is left with no stereo, hehe.
