Filling fuel problem with Octavia 1.6TDi Elegance 2013

Featured Replies

First of all to admin: I couldn't find any section of Octavia Elegance. I don't know if it was the right place to post thread regarding Elegance. apology if i made a mistake.

Anyways guys,

I am new owner of the Octavia Elegance 1.6TDi 2013. I had my hands on to the wheel today for the first time but unfortunately when i went to fill the empty tank I couldn't get the Diesel nozzle inside (definitely it was diesel). so I had to bring back the car straight to the dealer and after being inspected they said fuel tank neck has been damaged and they need time to inspect and repair it. Is this model prone to have this fuel filling problem? as i was searching internet i have found about someone was talking about same thing. Could anyone advise me about this please. thanks in advance. and this is my first post..hope people will response here.

The Elegance designation is just the trim level so no sub forum for that.

2013 is the changeover year between the Mk2 and Mk3 Octavia and most are the latter. It probably doesn't make much difference to your question but check so you are posting in the right section, just in case.

I have never had the problem you describe but it does seem that I may be pressing on a flap valve when I insert the pump hose. Perhaps this is part of the anti theft arrangement and yours has been damaged by a potential thief.

When i got my mk3 I pumped the diesel out of my golf i was trading and then got covered in it trying to pump it back into my mk3 because it has some kind of anti theft flap that will only open with the pump.

Cargiant (the place where i bought the car from) said that fuel tank neck was damaged and this part doesn't come separate..so they have to change the whole tank. they gave me option to wait until they fix the car which can be later on tomorrow or day after..otherwise i can have my full money back. I paid £8,300 for the car 63k and it was Octavia 1.6TDi (0 road tax) and fully loaded.

what do guys think?
