Running as service/console version...

Featured Replies

..seems to have an effect on the amount of points you can score.

Just wondered if there is anything behind this, as i now have (a lot more than i did)16 P4's @ 2.4Ghz upwards(mostly 2.8's) on 24/7 and now all running as service, with allow Big Wu's enabled.

Going back a few months i only had around 4 machines at most running, but they were running graphical client and my points per 24hr average was on a greater scale as you can see here:

Last 7 Months Production

Month <> Points <> WUs

02.06 <>1,269 <> 24 =52.82ppwua

01.06 <>20,948 <>272 =77.01points per wu average

12.05 <>8,116 <>33

11.05 <>10,108 <>30 =336.93Ppwua

10.05 <>10,526 <>45

09.05 <>12,026 <>45 =267.24 Ppwua

08.05 <>12,712 <>53

Just think somethings not quite right here, i would have thought so many P4's would have been giving a better 24hr average...

Any ideas? anyone

Thanks

Apparently the service version is the most effective way to fold - I assume you have been allowing W/U's over 5mb ?

yes on all machines

I assume you have been allowing W/U's over 5mb ?

why?

Basically, you get more points if you contribute more computing power to the cause. Because the larger units demand more RAM, processing one takes more power = more points

I've been allowing WUs of 5mb+ too, but I've had some pitiful ones allocated to me, and seen the computer only using around 9mb RAM against the fahcore78 task. :thumbdwn: The high scoring units tend to want to use 100mb ram, which is fine by me - its only a tenth of total power. I'm hoping its just a phase. :(

I think it's becuase my pc is getting all the big ones. I seem to get one everytime at the moment

Mine is currently working on a 19mb W/U ;)

cant understand it, i was doing an average of 200-350 points per work unit last year, if i was still doing that in January(see above table) i'd have made...

336.93Ppwua(in nov'05)X 272 (wu's in jan) = 91644.96points

instead of the pathetic 20948 i did get in jan

oh well:rolleyes:

Perhaps they've changed the points scoring system.

thing is having looked through some other users stats, they're still getting good averages *sighs

Maybe am just grasping at straws to get back my 10th spot LMAO
