fabia 2 pre FL safe mode because of brake lights

Featured Replies

As I have written in other topic, I need to see if someone has the same issue with brake lights and safe mode as my fabia mk2 pre FL. When both rear incadescent bulbs die at the same moment, the car goes to safe mode, check engine lights up, no throttle response. But ONLY on fabia mk2 pre FL, NO post FL. Maybe this is related only to classic trim level....My ECU is Simos model. You can make a simple test, put out the both rear brake bulbs, than drive 5 minutes no faster than 30 km/h, and you will see if check engine lights up or not....I have written about this to skoda, since I dont know what can be if I overtake and both lights die at the same moment....no throtlle response and safe mode????

It's been a well known characteristic of VW cars for years, i take it you have a petrol engine?

Loss of feedback from the brake pedal switch affects the drive by wire function of the throttle, hence the epc and or engine light coming on (to warn you of said fault).

When scanned it shows "brake pedal switch "F" implausible signal" and is an indicator of a fault with said switch or both halogen brake lights.

Its highly unlikely for both bulbs to fail at exactly the same time and regular checks of the lighting system can prevent this issue.

Yes, petrol. They didnt both die....but I put two cree led bulbs, and because of low resitence, the problem with check engine appeared:) yes it is unlikely that they both die at the same moment...

Change them back to normal bulbs, clear the faults and drive happy :)

Yeah, led bulbs without a resistor don't work in them. They've been like this since the days of the mk4 golf.

I also have a fabia 2011 FL. No problems with the led in the brake light and no fault. Looks like this one is smarter that her ancestor from 2007:) . I put a resistor in older fabia, cant stand the incadescent bulb:)
