Octavia vRS Airbag ECU

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

The Airbag warning lamp appeared on my dashboard so off to Skoda it went. It has been diagnosed as the Airbag ECU failing as the fault code will not clear(Skoda have quoted

I took out an extended warranty with Warranty Direct to cover just such an expensive eventuality. :) And having checked my policy to see if the airbag ECU is covered, I find that it isn't. :(

Hi

It is not that much of a common problem with these.

It has been known with us.

In fact we did a TT not that long ago.

It does not have to be just the dealers that do the work as you can get specialists like us that can do the work.

But then if you have had the car since new it could be worth a call to customer care on 0457 7745745 they may agree a bit of help

I also have a warranty, "RAC Gold Dogs Danglies" one but mine also does not cover airbag faults.

I had a bit of a moan to Skoda Customer Services about the fact that the car has only done 53,000, always been maintained by Skoda and has not had any bumps on the front end to warrant an airbag problem, i was very politely told by Skoda to "naff off".

You could try and locate a secondhand airbag ECU using 27/7 Spares here. There are a number of different versions and you would need to make sure you got the right one for your car. But I think I would opt for getting a new one fitted via a dealer or VAG specialist in view of the safety implications.
