New 12' Superb owner. Tire pressure sensor help w new wheels

Featured Replies

How's it going gentlemen?  I'm a new Superb owner. Just took ownership of a 2012 Superb 1.8 tsi 6 speed manual.

I have a set of 18" Audi wheels w 245/40/18 tires that I'd like to put on the Skoda instead of the current 17s.

Been searching the web about the tire pressure sensors on these cars. So I need to purchase and install new sensors on these wheels? Or can I reset the system after mounting the new wheels/tires?

thanks for the insight and advice. Have a nice day

Joe

Just reset after fitting the new wheels/tyres. Not sure if there'll be enough clearance for the 245's but no doubt someone who knows about these things will be along shortly.

Thanks for the help. I was hoping it was a simple solution not involving buying and mounting new sensors etc.

I have read and read on the forum but can't get an answer to the 245/40 question. Anyone know?

wheels are 18x8 et 42

tires are 245/40/18

There are no sensors - it uses the ABS to detect loss of pressure by picking up the change in rolling radius.

In diameter there should be no problem, since this is with 653mm a bit smaller than the 657mm of 225/50R17, a dimension which is used successfully by quite some people on this forum.

The width of both tire and rim is most likely a problem. 235 seems to be the absolute max. But I'm no expert, I'm a fan of the standard 205/55r16.

Thanks again. I've also searched google etc for examples of 235/40 tires working. Not much out there actually. Doesn't seem to be a big car for customization. There's just bunches of them here in Denmark and I can't stand being one of the flock.

The 245s I have now will be tested just for fun. I'll measure it out from there.  Maybe get lucky and 235s will work. Any Picts or link from any of you?

Thanks

Joe
