Oil sensor workshop and parking sensors not working

Featured Replies

I have had the oil sensor workshop warning come on and along with it the parking sensors are no longer working. I took it to main dealer as have extended warranty they tell me it's a wiring issue so not covered under warranty. Has anyone else had these two faults together and any fixes?

Ask the dealer to support their diagnosis with proof.

It is very difficult to diagnose wiring faults and it is all too easy for a lazy main dealer to fob you off.

If they are so sure the fault is wiring related then ask them to show you the faulty wiring. It is unlikely they will be able to.

They will be simply relying on the fault codes which they've read by simply plugging the car into their diagnostics computer.

Fault codes can not be 100% relied on for diagnosing faults, if the mechanic / dealer has done their job properly they will have been able to identify where the wiring fault is.

Don't take their word for it.

Wiring issue and not covered under warranty!!!

How does that qualify as not under warranty.

Is your warranty the five year one from new if it is then the top two sentences apply.

If it is some other warranty then I do not know. Though I would read the small print of your warranty.

It's a combination of a failed (internally shorted) sensor causing some burned out terminals ;)

I have just encountered this exact same situation. I brought the car in for a service at the main dealers on Monday (not where I originally bought it, I bought private). Since then the Oil Sensor Workshop warning has displayed and I only realised yesterday that the reverse parking sensors aren't working. When I go in to the convenience settings on the MFD I can still alter and hear the sound of the reverse parking sensor it just doesn't do anything when I back up.

They did tell me that there was a wiring fault to my AC system that I'd planned to get fixed next service. But no other faults. They did change my oil, oil filter and fuel filter in the service.

I see people have reported a combination of faults with the Oil Sensor Workshop warning, including AC failure, TCS lights, auto dim rear mirror, etc. So I'm wondering is it a shared fuse that's blown? It sound strange that they'd share a fuse or that there would be some common wiring fault between a system that monitors the oil and a reverse parking sensor?

What was the outcome?

What was the outcome with this? I've had the exact same thing happen on mine...

I've got the same problem. The Oil Sensor Workshop message keeps coming up and I've just noticed the parking sensors are not working. What was the solution to your problem, or did you just ignore it? Was it wiring, a fuse or an actual problem with a sensor?

Have a look at this thread, seems to be similar issue    :-

Thanks for that. Also found this thread

Fuse 4 has blown. As suggested I have tried a 7.5a fuse and everything seems to be working again. I will have to have a look at the air quality sensor circuit.
