Hi All I cant give very much information at this moment but I am looking for some ideas, my Octavia wouldn't start this morning, It was perfect last night, then this morning it turns over just fine sounds like its trying to start, if I keep turning it over I can smell diesel but no go ! I will put my diagnostics tester on it later.

The Octavia is 2001 110bhp tdi, asv engine. it is serviced and been no problem.

I think I have sorted it, It was the EGR sticking open, I have cleaned it out and all seems well, I have been thinking about having it terracleaned which I may do soon to clean it up properly.

I think you might mean the ASV which is attached to the EGR pretty much. I had a similar problem and lubed it and moved it around a bit, then the problem never re-occured.
