Superb belt noise?

Featured Replies

Hi i just bought a 2011 Skoda superb 2.0  CR TDi that had run 75k.. few days after picking it up

i notice a belt noise from the aux belt area!(Its a swoosh sound about every second at idle)Drove IT back to the dealer for a check. They called back and told me there was a belt sound but They could not find Any faults. But They had Lubed the belt and it was fine!

i thougt that seemed weird what is there too lube?? So i had them replace the belt aswell

well next day the noise is back sligtly weaker but still there!!!

any pointers what IT could be?

I suspect they used something like WD40 as this quietens the belts until it wears off. If they've replaced the belts and it still seems noisy it may need a new pulley or two, not that the pulleys should ever wear out. Did they really replace the belt?.

Could be the aircon pump - if so that noise is likely to be normal. Were you able to demonstrate it to the guys in the garage? Also putting any oil on rubber belts is a bad idea - they're designed to work dry (Or occasionally wet with water). Oil will probably degrade the rubber over time.

Thanks for the reply...

going to Phoen2 and Ask just what They lubed tomorrow.

really think They changed the belt!

Soo there is normal with noise from the aircon pump.?

will this go away if ac is turned off?

I've never heard anyone lubing the belt! Have they really changed the belt, have a look with a torch , if the noise is still there it'll probably be the tensioner
