I've just replaced a lost mobile with exactly the same model. I thought it would be a simple swap but the car doesn't recognise the phone. I followed the handbook instructions, made sure phone was on Bluetooth, ignition on and pressed phone on Columbus but no message about finding the phone and no message on the phone either. Any suggestions before I take it to Skoda 30 miles away?

See if you can get someone else's phone to pair first. That may narrow it down to a phone issue or a car issue.  It's possible the problem is with the phone. 

I don't think you can't pair the phone through the Columbus. Have you got Maxidot and the steering wheel controls, because that's where I'd be looking to pair a phone.
