1.4 Tsi Engine "rattle"

Featured Replies

Hi all,

...had my 2010 petrol 1.4Tsi (122hp) for 3 yrs now and generally been happy. However the last few days I have noticed an increase in "engine noise". Not that bad, but sounds like "tappets" used to sound in the days before hydraulic adjustment? Currently on 50k miles, serviced every year / 9k miles. No noticeable change in performance. I have not come across any generic 1.4 122hp engine issues so just wondering if this is anything to worry about?

..ta for any advice....

Its worth getting checked out as it might be stretched timing chain or tensioner issues

an update re my little "rattle" problem...(as per other recent similar post).

Took to dealers on Friday and they have advised the noise is the water pump bearing..so they have fitted a new one. Really good service as they took it in the day after I phoned them and they checked it out and fixed it the next day!!..well happy.
