New wheels

Featured Replies

I bought these back in November.  Unfortunately one of them was the wrong PDC, offset and centre bore.  I have had to wait for TD to make me a new wheel and it turned up on Monday - quite a wait!

They are 17", 5x112, 8j, et45 and 57.1 centre bore (no spigot rings needed).  I fitted them today and thought I'd share a few pics.  I am well aware of the black wheel debate that rages on here at times and I am also a black wheel disliker. This might confuse people but there is a valuable lesson to be learned from my purchase.  Don't go on ebay after a few beers.  I was looking for some of these Pro Race 1.2 wheels in 17" for ages but wanted these specific measurements.  These cropped up and the price was great value with only a couple of minutes left on the bidding.  Without too much thought I popped a bid in and was surprised to find that I won them.  Try telling the Mrs this a few weeks before Christmas........

Anyway, I've fitted them and will run on them for a while and decide if a respray is in order.  I normally like my wheels to be in the sparkliest silver available so black for me is a total departure from the norm.

On the plus side they are 17.8kg each including the tyre versus 23.4kg for the OEM 17" rim and tyre.  Quite a saving and I'm looking forward to seeing how the handing is affected as a result.

Comments welcome.:)

Wide 17 inch alloys are underrated. I think they are 100% spot on (except for the all black paint)! The alloys seems to disappear due to the color. Antracite, black crome or gun grey or other grey/silver would make the stance clearer.

What is the size of the rubber, I assume it is 225's (or maybe 235?).

Not normally a black wheel fan but they actually look quite mean...

I'm also a size queen so perhaps it's just covering up the vast expanse of rubber surrounding them :D;)

The offset and width are spot on though :)

They look smart

I went for the 17" as the car feels more nimble on them versus the 18" (my humble opinion of course).  As for the rubber, it's the standard 225 width.

Thanks for the other positive comments as the car looks better in the metal than on the pics.  I agree with the viewpoint that the wheels can almost disappear in the wheel arch due to there being too much black but as i said, I'll run them for a while and decide if I like them.
