Tailgate rattle

Featured Replies

Hi,I was wondering if anyone on here knows anything about a tailgate rattle,i have tried everything to find it with no joy...someone told me it can be common,Just wondered if anyone on here can Give me any advice please,I have a 2011 Skoda Eligance...Thank you in advance.

There's a few posts around on the subject.

FWIW - mine seems to rattle a bit and mostly is related to the parcel shelf luggage cover. If I close that it is a lot better.

Here is one thread with some causes: If these don't solve it have a search around the forum.

First off, it's not spelt eligance, might wanna change your user info, ;) but can you tell us if it's a hatch or estate?

Assumed estate with my response, as the term tailgate, rather than hatch but now I can see it is not that clear!

Pardon My spelling....Its a hatch

Has there been a repair in that area: glass, tailgate, trim?

I had my tailgate resprayed under warranty and there has been an annoying rattle ever since.

Yes, I could have taken it back, but considering the bodyshop were driving my vehicle for personal use and both Skoda and the dealership ignored my complaint and evidence, I think I'll live  with it!

Try search the "Annoying Rattle" (old) thread.

I had a similar issue from new.

Turns out it was the LH support for the luggage compartment cover that hadn't been fitted properly at the factory, meaning that a broken clip wasn't holding it in the correct position. No obvious signs though, as the parcel shelf seemed rock steady. Just about the only thing I hadn't suspected.
