Hi all need some advice please just had to ditch my 2001 rs as the clutch made a bang and the pedal is stuck to the floor there is a black plastic l shape bracket that came off at the same time 

So can you tell me if the clutch is cable( thats what im hoping} or is it hydrualic 

ideas please as to what may have happened ,i was only changing gear ,the clutch has been fine but it has now done 130000and is still the original one

The Clutch is hydraulic, so not a simple snapped cable

its a common problem (I actually keep a clutch pedal in my boot!) a bit of plastic breaks rendering the clutch pedal useless.... new one needed (though some have managed to manufacture bits to fix it themselves)

 you have just saved me a lot of time and money ,just had a look and sure enough something is not good with pedal what a ****** to get to,just taken the seat out to make it easier to see my 50 year old joints dont bend like they used to

i dont supose anyone has a spare pedal kicking around the local stealer wants £37 + and cant get it untill tuesday.
