What Glue & Tar Remover!

Featured Replies

Hi All

I need to get some glue & tar remover as I have used previously the EZ & Auto-Glym & found them both pretty decent but I'm thinking if I need a stronger solution base product (but safe for paint work) as I need to remove some double sided tape.

Or

Is there something else that folks can recommend for removing the double sided tape? The bonus would be if a glue & tar remover will do the job, then at least I will have some left over for my vehicle for when I do a paint detail/protection.

Thanks

I have always used autosmart tar and glue

Another vote for Autosmart Tardis - been using it for years, not come across an equivalent product which betters it.

cheers

Chris

I use the Autoglym personally but at work I use standard thinners.

Double sided tape is not the easiest to get off anyway. It won't be a case of spray on remover, leave, come back and peel off as I'm sure you know.

I found the best thing to remove it is your bare thumb, start at the edge so that the tape starts rolling too. Doesn't leave much. *Warning* This may cause blistering of your skin due to friction. So not really recommended.:blush

I use a plastic spreader to remove a good bit at a time then re-soak with remover. Bit messier but safer for your thumbs!

Good luck anyway.

a container will last you years. Make sure you use a chemical resistant sprayer head/trigger, otherwise it will eat through the standard ones

Tardis is really nasty stuff - just be careful how you use it and how you dispose of the residues you rinse off. Its powerful as a result though.

The Valet Pro stuff is almost as good and mush easier, safer and more pleasant to use.

Tardis is excellent, but don't use it on anything that has had any paintwork done. It is very potent!

I've just tried Autobrite Direct Just the Tonic. That is just as good IMO.

Thanks guys for your input & tips

I think I'll give Tardis a try :o I'll just be careful when actually using it & a little bit at a time ;)

I use just the tonic from autobrite also along with loads of their stuff,  they actually have a Easter sale coming up mid April,  bargains to be had I'm sure!

+1 on Hunty's comment.

Currently using AD Just the Tonic for tar+glue - it's not let me down as yet.
