vRS estate wheel alignment - what's adjustable

Featured Replies

Can anyone let me know what's all adjustable regarding wheel alignment on a vRS estate please?

I use a local mx5 specialist to align my mx5 weekend/trackday toy on their Hunter machine so will pay them a visit depending on what's all adjustable.

Also does anything need reset after an alignment on these? I know they couldn't do my dad's e92 3 series as the traction/stability controllers needs reset to prevent it thinking there's a problem and they didn't have the software to do it.

Thanks

I know I couldn't get my car aligned at the weekend because my car has ACC, and while they had a hunter machine, they didn't have the module for recalibrating the ACC, so big warnings came up on the hunter saying not to do the alignmet. So of the dealers I will have to go. This might cost.

When he showed me the screen on the machine, there were also warnings about the lane assist function and its calibrations, which makes sense as it can control the steering.

Very interesting to know as I had mine done (to a degree) at a local place to me and my car has ACC and Lane Assist.

Still needs more adjustment though to fully correct.

They said that they could do the front wheels, but that they can't do the rear wheel with ACC. Problem was the back was out as well, so not worth doing peicemeal

Why does ACC have any effect on rear wheel alignment adjustment?  Not saying it doesn't just would like to understand.

It is the other way around. The rear wheel alignment affects the acc sensor in some way. And no I am not sure why it does. Lane Assist I can sort of understand as it does use the steering.

Arse, what I expected then regarding resetting sensors/systems. I have the radar for front assist and lane assist so they're going to need sorted.

Does anyone know if this is something that can be done using VCDS? If so that'll edge my closer to purchasing one.

I hate using dealers, and even some so called "specialists" who either just aim for a screen full of green boxes or align it perfect, print off the paperwork, then return to the car a tighten everything up knocking it all out again! Dan who aligns my mx5 is great and persists until the readings are exact (not just green and within factory tolerances) and symmetrical with everything tightened up.
