Hi Ron, good to hear from you.  I went from a Mazda 6 Sport to my current Octavia vRS.  I was very impressed with the build quality of the Octavia when I test drove it and the 2 litre diesel engine is a peach. My Mazda was a 2.2 diesel but the Skoda's more than matches the performance.  Funny you should mention the suspension - the only gripe I have with the car is that the suspension on the vRS is very hard.  You feel every bump in the road, and there are plenty of those where I live.  That said, the car corners like it is on rails.  I would however be interested to see if there is any way of softening the suspension up a little and sacrificing some road holding at a reasonable price.

Hi.. Many Thanks for the reply ..Its good to compare opinions about similar cars....Sorry I didn't quite catch your first name..For what its worth and in reading up about what causes high levels of road noise I have come to the conclusion that certain types of tyres can go a long way to eliminate this problem..however when comparing my old car the Golf GT which was petrol .. although it was 2000cc the engine was a lot lighter whereas the diesel engines are made of cast iron which inevitably due to the extra weight at the front end causes a somewhat bumpy ride ( BTW I have the same awful roads and bloody speedbumps every where ) so I think the tyres will seriously improve the feel of the car and the suspension..will be doing a wee bit of research into what is the best tyres...so will let you know my findings...best not tell my wife I,m thinking about replacing the front tyres...she dos'nt really need to know....Good tyres on the back Continental..but the front tyres just run of the mill...keep in touch..Ron
