Rear ARB price

Featured Replies

I definately think my fabia would benefit greatly from one of these babies and the reviews seem excellent. However the price seems to me a bit of a joke, yes its a custom piece but at the end of the day it is little more than a steel bar with a bit of welding a few nuts n bolts and painted green. To my mind even the grp buy price is a about 100quid too dear the profit margin must be huge. I wonder why no other companies provide a rear arb for a sensible price is it some complex mechanical reason or would it just not make enough dosh? Not trying to dis jabba at all they clearly have produced a very fine product that no doubt I will end up purchasing but I would rather not have to pay such a large premium!

What do u all reckon?

If you think of an hourly labour charge, materials and loss of earning of them doing work that is more profitable, it doesn't take long to add up. And, obviously, being pretty much the only place that makes one they can charge a bit of a mark up.

If you could make one yourself, do it. If not then we pay for someone elses' expertise.

(not biased as I just bought one)

I reckon the materials alone is a big part of the cost, as its a solid 23mm thick piece of metal. Then it has to be forged into the necessary shape by Jabba's neighbours - maybe 45 minutes work? Then Jabba have to fit it, which is about 15/20 minutes work. Oh, and then the spraying of it too of course. The bolts which hold it to the rear beam are quite chunky and expensive looking too. All in all I think £190 is a reasonable price to pay indeed.

They're not fitting mine and I'm paying the same price. So I don't think that comes into it. ;)

If you consider the results you get in return for £230, then it's definately worth it! On a materials only basis, then probably not. You could argue the fact that a remap on a materials basis is just a software change, Eibach springs is just a bit of metal too etc....

These 3 items IMO are the most cost effective mods you can do on the Fabia bar none especially considering that after you have done these 3 items, there is little to be gained until you start spending BIG money!

Thanks for your thoughts chaps I do agree with the pound per gain theory reckon thats it I better get saving :D at least I can justify it now!!!

Another couple of things to consider...this is a custom ARB and as such does not benefit from economies of scale of mass manufacturer. Also IIRC there is only one other company that produces a ARB for the Fabia and that is around the same price and not as thick.

Finally to put this into a bit of perspective....I have a Neuspeed rear ARB for my Octavia.....
