Flat spot?

Featured Replies

The car is running stonkingly well at the moment, after a brief lull (dodgy fuel?) a couple of weeks ago and the new boost gauge shows ~20psi dropping to ~18psi at full throttle (APR'd), although I couldn't stare at the DIN-mounted gauge whilst driving...

Taking second gear as an example, though, there's a surge of torque in the mid-range and there seems to be another surge just before changing up. It's most noticeable in damp weather as I can get wheelspin in second at low-mid rpm and at high rpm approaching 60mph.

Should the delivery be more consistent or is this just a case of maximum torque in the mid-range and maximum power at higher rpm? just curious.

I guess not then!

My Jabba'd car does this too - I have always put it down to the variable-valve timing.

I'm still considering a re-remap though ;)

I had thought about the variable timing. It's not pronounced like a VTEC, probably due to having a turbo.

Does anybody know if it it's a discrete 2 stage system or truly 'variable'?
