New to Skoda

Featured Replies

In over 45 years of motoring, I've owned 14 cars from 12 different manufacturers but my 15th car will be my first ever from Skoda. Chopped in our 5-year old Hyundai Santa Fe for a 66 plate Superb Estate 4x4 DSG L&K yesterday. Just hoping we get it though as it's in the Skoda compound in Milton Keynes apparently. Our local dealer (Bristol Street Motors) will be ringing them today to make sure the car is still available so keeping everything crossed. My wife will be very disappointed if we have to fall back on our second choice which is not a 4x4. We are caravanners so the 4 wheel drive can be very handy if you're on a wet, muddy/grassy site. Looking forward to owning the car. Haven't even driven one yet so looking forward to that too. Hope I won't be disappointed :-)

First job - get a tow bar fitted!

Hope you get the Superb ok :)

Bought my first car in 1971 - but no idea how many cars (and Mbikes) I have owned over the years - lots more than 14 though.

Heard from the salesman about an hour ago that he has secured the car for us. It's a 190 PS L&K DSG 4x4 in White (the metallic white I think). First registered Dec 2016 with just over 5k miles on the clock. He's hoping he can get it up to the North East and have it ready to hand over to us in time for our drive down to Sussex on Friday so he's looking at a hand-over on Thursday. This will be ideal. it'll give us a 600 mile round trip to get to know the car so keeping my fingers crossed that this happens.

Hope it goes ok for you - we bought our Fabia from Hexham LOL - it was the closest one that ticked most of the boxes for us : )

Hello Albourneboy welcome :handshake:to the skoda forum best of luck on getting your car on time and the trip.:)

Welcome along, glad you got it secured!  Best of luck with it!

Hand over arranged for 5pm today. Stupid I know - it's only another car but I'm quite excited.

Contacted a local company yesterday to have a towbar fitted - a Westphalia detachable with vehicle specific electrics. That's all fixed for next Saturday so will be all ready in time for our caravanning trip early May Bank Holiday.

Possibly the wrong place for this but a quick question. Once the towbar electrics are installed, will I have to take the car to a the dealer to have anything 'activated' software-wise?

The towbar installer should be able to enable if reqd I would have thought.

They came recommended by the dealer so I hope so

The last time I had a towbar installed the installer did everything,I would have fitted myself but with the modern electrics I chickened out :)
