Good folding PC for

With the following: (this is a question, rather than a statement) ;)

ECS K8 NVIDIA Socket 754 DDR400 AGP (P21110) NFORCE3-A ATX Retail Box

AMD Sempron 3400+ (SDA3400BXBOX) 64 Bit Architecture 2.0Ghz Skt 754 Boxed

Ebuyer 512mb DDR PC3200 400MHz 184pin Extra Value Ram

EBuyer SN-C0308B ATX Middle Tower Case in Black with USB2.0/Audio/1394/ 80mm side case fan and 350w Power supply(no power cord)

Seagate ST340015A Barracuda 40GB 5400RPM ATA/100 2MB Cache - OEM

Ebuyer Extra Value Silver 500w ATX Power Supply

LG GCE8527BL 52x32x52x CD-RW Internal IDE (Black) - OEM

All delivered for £233 from Ebuyer. Can't really go with this at the moment, so wondering what everyone thought? I'd saved more money if they were in stock of all the good value cases. Anyone help me with my mission with second hand bits? You know me and salvaging bits. ;) Tempted to just get board & CPU from Ebuyer and see what I can get elsewhere. :D

Hmmmm. Anyone else just spotted the double PSU purchase like me!

No graphics card with that?

s754 is finished now? (s939 is current, but soon to be out-dated too)

Hexus.net have a good second hand area - you need to make 50 posts to view it (shouldn't be hard for you!)

Could get some good s/h bits from there, certainly enough to make a folding PC.

Scan also have a 'bundles' section

What's happened to your 3500+ machine you were building?

I have some spare ram here, 2x512 Geil Ultra ddr400 was thinking of selling for £50.

My 3500+ is on the verge of running once I get the O.S sorted out. :)

Just thinking of another one thats all, and this seemed reasonable value, even if a discontinued product. Bang for your buck and all that - thats my philosophy on machines purely for folding.

I thought folding was about using "spare" or under used pc's, not building and running countless pc's just for folding.

This will be the ultimate underused PC though. ;) So under used its never used for anything else. I'll be using my AMD for backup of data on the network though, so it won't be entirely devoted to folding, just 99.99%

Contrary to popular beleif Socket 754 isn't finished. It's just home to the 64 Bit Sempron Range, The Deceleron's Rival. Socket 754 Atlon 64's have been discontinued though, I was one of the poor sods who bought one :o I know PC's constantly change, but Socket A lasted for like 7 Years, With Socket 754, more like 7 minutes :(
