I've found similar discussions on hear, but nothing that really sorts out this question...

 

When you use "database" view for mp3 files on an SD Card, it sorts by artist / contributing artist before album.  The sensible hierarchy, used in most music players is album artist -> album, so that compilation albums, and guest appearances don't split albums up.

 

Is there any way to change the player so it uses album artist?

I doubt it, I have struggled with this myself, now I just have individual tracks on the sd card. Good luck K

Think I'll look into doing a mass update of tags to replace artist with album artist.  I'll let you know if I find a way to do it!
