Well, I've been 'lurking' for a while, thought I should post to introduce myself.

I've had a checkered past with cars, starting my life with a MKII Golf. Loved it, was never legal,  ever did any mods, couldn't even drive it as bought off my brother before I passed my test. It screamed late '80's hot-hatch. I Racked up more in 'no-TAX' fines that I spent on driving lessons, so it was scraped untill I was ready.

 

2x Fiesta 1.3's & a Renault savana 2.1tD later I found a peach of a BMW E30. This is where I 're-found my appreciation  (& want) of a decent car. This was a 325i touring, with all the M-Tech goodies you couldn't shake a stick at. I F'ing loved that car. All the meets, drifts & drags I could find - all as a standard car (albeit a LSD & tints).

 

Family came along, then back to a Grande Punto GP & now a VW Touran (boring).

 

Funds now allow for a 2nd car, after search for 6x months trying to work out what will give me.

 

- decent MPG

- good motorway & A-Road comfort.

- Take the dog & 2x kids to the woods.

- commute x80 miles a day

 

I've concluded on a Fabia MKI vRS SE. 

 

My local, trusted dealer is now currently sourcing me a low mileage, decent example of one & I'll hopefully be posting back with the results.

 

 

Hello StriderDriver  welcome along to the Skoda forum hope you fine the right one.

Local dealers couldn't find me a SE within my price range & a change of job forced me to look at the 'standard' VRS's  (is there a plural for that?).

 

With only £2.5k available, several 100's of miles looking & 6x cars later, I found a black '56 plate on 107k miles.

 

There's a few 'niggles' to sort.

 

- front fog lenses broken

- door arm-rest clips broken

- mild lacquer bubbling on alloys

- NO cup-holders!!

 

I think the first priority is to get some different shoes & get some matched rubber on all four wheels.

 

I see several mentions that the MK1 is similar to the Polo & Leon? Searching isn't bringing that much up, any advise (for a limited budget)?

Welcome, i joined last year with my first Skoda too! Lovely cars.
