Back after about 5 years!

Featured Replies

It's nice to be back and see how much the site has changed since I left in 2012. Ex owner of a fabia Vrs. Took it from 40,000 to 140,000 in three years!

It happens to the best of us. A joke bid on eBay whilst sitting on the toilet or after few too many drinks and all of a sudden you have a new car..

In this instance I'm quite lucky to live near Blackbushe car auctions and I found this guy hiding in amongst a lot of pricier trade ins.

Bought for £800 - I present a 110,000 mile 2004 Octavia VRS estate.

For now, a lot of my finances are being aimed at refurbishment over mods!

What has been sorted so far.

  • Oil breather pipe was perished and replaced
  • EML was on but was down to a faulty Oil level sensor, all fixed
  • Full service - Last owner only did 10k miles over 4 years of ownership and part of me thinks the car wasn't serviced at all...*shudders*
  • New starter motor - no more crunchy start ups!
  • New Bridgestones for the rear as the others were splitting!
  • Full shampoo of the interior. After owning a Fabia VRS I was prepared for another badly matched light interior upholstery colour choice!

What's on the list to sort out before the end of April

  • Keeping in mind my lack of faith that the last owner cared about maintenance, Cambelt and water pump replacement booked in this week
  • Lumpy stutters from time to time, error code flags up MAF, so going to get that replaced at the same time.
  • Full respray of the front bumper, as you can some parts no longer have paint or primer on them!
  • Full respray of rear hatch as it is beginning to suffer from the common rust issues in this area.

I don't have any big plans for the car, after owning a fabia that was problem free at 140,000 after doing 100k in three years, I'm confident that after doing the maintenance required it will be a fun runabout! I was surprised to see that the estate has 16 inch spiders so I might look for 17's but would like to keep it as clean and standard externally as possible.

I'm assuming a miltek exhaust, decent filter (panel?) and a remap would see a comfortable 210ish which would make some good cost effective fun?

Any fellow owners in the Hampshire area? HI! :D

Hello Chrisjroe welcome back to the Skoda forum.:)

Hi there, good work!  Nice to life breathed into the older models.

Thank you both.

I thought it would be a waste to let this car go to scrap or to be driven into the ground!
