Android Auto issue

Featured Replies

I've just picked up my 65 plate SE with Smartlink enabled. I'm having an issue with Google Play Music in Android Auto: when I start a playlist, the first track plays perfectly, but most of the time the second track is silent even though the progress bar is moving. The only way I have found to get around it is to unplug the phone then reconnect. This results in the Bolero unit restarting spontaneously. I can then play the rest of the playlist without issue.

Another annoyance which has happened at least once a day is that the car's time and date is being changed. It usually jumps forward by two or three hours though once the date was reset to 01/01/2013. I haven't yet been able to work out whether these two issues are linked.

Anyone else experienced these problems? Any help gratefully received!

It's a VW/Android problem i'm afraid. I've got the same thing with my SEAT Leon and my wife's Golf does the same thing. It'll do it in Spotify/Google Music/Packet Casts & Tune In Radio.

See here for more info about this on a Spotify forum. I'm afraid there's no fix for it yet

Thanks for the reply. Very disappointing. Do you have the issue with the time and date too?

Sorry mate, no. My Octavia is on order, not got it yet

Did you buy it from a Skoda dealer? You could take it back and tell them what is the problem and because the car is still under warranty they might just upgrade the software in your headunit for you

Updating the software won't make a scrap of difference. The problem lies with Android I'm afraid, they need to update at their end

I'm finding issues with Spotify on Android Auto. Albums don't play in order. Music stops after a couple of tracks. I attempted to use Audible to listen to an audio book but despite showing it, it wouldn't play. Scrolling through Spotify Albums manuallly on the head unit gets blocked if the car is moving. Voice commands don't seem to work.. a bit of a useless expenditure..

This better not happen on the new vRS. I cant wait to have Android Auto and Spotify playing in the car.

I think the issues may be related to the app, rather than the Head Unit. Good news is that I got Audible to run today. However it stopped working after an hour and I had to reboot.

My issues relating to Spotify not playing Albums in the correct order can seemingly be rectified by saving albums as playlists, rather than 'Albums'.

I do not have this issue with Google Music and Amazon music on Android 7.0.

Interesting. I have the problem on my Nexus 5x, 7.1.2. Anyone else care to post their Android version to see if we can pin it down to a particular release?

I've only had 2 occasions in the past six months where Google Play Music or Pocketcasts has gone silent requiring a restart of the phone.
