1.2 TSI DSG Fact & Figures Confusion

Featured Replies

Hello,

Currently looking at these for my mother and I'm a bit confused as to the different engines being listed under the 1.2 TSI guise and slightly different power and acceleration figures given for each. Were there any changes to this engine made in the facelift Yeti during it's lifetime?

If I look on parkers.co.uk (see attachment) it appears to say there are 2 versions of this under the Elegance trim level?

Thanks,

Neil

There are two 1.2TSi engines.

A 1.2TSi single cam 8 valve with cam chain that has 105PS and 175NM from 1550rpm

And later a 1.2TSi twin cam 16 valve with cam belt that has 110PS and 175NM from 1400rpm

Post facelift there are also "City" and "Outdoor" models available.

Thanks Lee,

The car I'm currently looking at is registered in April 2014, I am assuming the change happened around this time? If so how can I tell which engine this vehicle has? Is one considered considerably better than the other?

Neil

This is the 8V engine with turbo at the front of the car,

This is the 16V unit.

Brilliant, thank you, so the car I'm looking at has the 8v engine. :)

The 8V unit has had problems with cam chains. (But modified in 2012)

The 16V is more powerfull, more refined and more economical so will always be the one if there is a choice.

I have both engines and the 16V engine is a nicer unit.
