Body part shortage?

Featured Replies

I had my lovely Octy L&K Estate rearranged by white van man when I was waiting to turn left from a T-Junction.

I used the free Skoda Ensurance to manage everything, they arranged repair through a Skoda (and VW/Audi/Seat) authorised body shop in Reading.

It needed lots of bits (mainly small bits - basic damage was bumper, tailgate and panel under bumper).

I'm still waiting to get the car back! Not getting a very clear story, but was told that one part was on back order (so why did they take the car if they didn't have the part, it was on the list of bits).

Is there a parts supply issue with Skoda??

Parts availability is not checked prior to a vehicle going for repair. The body shop probably don't even order the parts till the car has had all the damaged parts removed, due to hidden damage. It's also not un-common for parts to be on back order.

I was expecting 1-2 weeks, not 4!!

Long time since I had any bodywork done so a bit rusty on what the current processes are.
