Car only unlocking drivers door and boot - broken hinge wires?

Featured Replies

Just had a call from the wife as shes at home but the car won't unlock the rear or passenger doors. We've had this before and it reset itself before I got a good chance to look at it. Our son was in the back but thankfully old enough to climb through.

I had something similar on my SuperbII and it was broken wires in the drivers door. Is this likely to be the same or something more sinister going on?

Won't be able to go look till Sunday as we're away to the in-laws and I'm at work 30miles away. Be a good idea if I knew where to begin looking before I got home.

Thanks

Sounds probable, but then again, I'm not 100% if the drivers door module for the locking is the same on Fabia.

I've recently found a few broken wires on my Fabia VRS so its the first place if look for sure.

Just an update to this. Been out this evening and had the door card off. The car gave implausible signal on all doors prior to this.

Have checked and two wires had frayed insulation but not broken.  Have reinforced the insulation and put it all back. No errors yet. I suspect i will be taking the loom back out at some point and soldering them up. But good enough to get the wife sorted till I get more time.

Much easier to get the card off than my old superb!

Yeah mine need soldering up......!

@S27VEJ that is significantly worse than mine! Might be easier to whip it out and do it on the bench.

Im not doing it....electrician friends guvvy job for the weekend!

:)

Only the drivers door unlocks from the key fob. You have to click it three or four times to unlock the rest. I find this really annoying.
