Installed a Android based 10inch Chinese HU on Octy2

Featured Replies

Hello...

Been lurking on and off here to read DIYs and troubleshooting guides since a long time, thought I would share some info on an Android based unit i bought while in China.

Its a huge touchscreen with GPS, bluetooth, reverse cam and the usual android app goodies.

I can see which doors are open so I guess its linked to CAN-BUS, but since its a really low specced Classic trim, I dont have PDC to try. Apparently the seller says it works with steering controls as well.

Overall really pleased for under 300quid its transformed the in-car entertainment bit. Sounds miles ahead of the Stream originally on the car.

What brand is that head unit? Or is it one of those unbranded ones?

Did you have to cut the fascia surround to fit it in? Or did it come with a custom surround like the first picture suggests?

I've just ordered an 8" VW android unit from joying to fit in my motor and I'm curious as to whether I should have bought an unbranded unit that would have been cheaper.
