Any help Please

Featured Replies

Hi all

I recently got a Skoda Fabia Comfort 2001 model.

It has an old tape deck radio and I'm trying to change it to a new Sony Bluetooth radio but when I plug it all in the unit won't turn on, I've had a few people tell me I need to change some of the wires so tried swooping the red and yellow round but it still doesn't seem to work can any one offer any help?

Welcome to the site.

If you haven't got one you need a booster as the standard head units have the booster already built in but aftermarket ones don't. The booster sends 12v to the aerial to supply the amplifier in the base, which it needs to operate correctly.

There are two different booster models to cater for different socket connections. PC5-90 or PC5-52...

This video for the Octavia (same wiring) shows everything you need to do, including the red and yellow wire stuff...

There is'nt a 12 volts DC going to the aerial base via the aerial lead from the radio. It is a 'psuedo' supply, which cannot be measured on a voltmeter.I believe it is an AC supply at a frequency signal which will not interfere with the received radio signal. It is converted to a DC voltage in the aerial base which powers the amplifier.

Funny how people ask for advice, you spend ages on it and then they don't come back.
